Anish Kapoor à la Tourette

2015. From Anish Kapoor to Le Corbusier

From the 10th of sept 2015 to the 3rd of  january 2016
Couvent de la Tourette - 69210 Eveux-L’Arbresle
To mark the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the death of Le Corbusier (1965) and within the scope of the 13th Biennale d’art contemporain de Lyon, the theme of which is “modern life”, Anish Kapoor, considered to be one of the greatest contemporary sculptors, is the guest artist at the La Tourette monastery.

The works being exhibited interact with the architecture and evokes a mise en abyme, such as the feeling of being lifted up, taken away in connection with the Infinite. They are by their very nature mystical, but do, however, open out into a spiritual dimension in this location.

The audaciousness shown by the Dominicans in selecting Le Corbusier, over half a century ago, persists today with the organisation of exhibitions which have the aim of provoking deep debate between architectural heritage and contemporary creativity.
