2011. Miracles

Photography exhibition, Julien Taylor

April 2011

Julien Taylor was originally known as a photographer of the night. Back then, his interest lay in movement, blurriness and confusion. He photographs methodically from floor to ceiling and from chosen viewpoints, his scenes peopled with night owls. He has a particular interest in multiple exposures: he uses photomontage to assemble different moments from the same evening in order to create sequences of images relating the film of a party that has actually taken place, but which he takes delight in reinventing. Once the shoot is over, he uses a computer to create a "digital collage", building a new narrative based on the principle of movement decomposition.

In collaboration with Di Mezzo at Le Cloître Ouvert, Nicolas Feuillatte presented a selection of photographs by Julien Taylor, voted artist of the year 2011 by the brand, a sponsor of contemporary art. This led to "BOOM! ", a piece designed by the artist to commemorate the champagne brand's 35th anniversary.
